Samba Roots
Last week the amazing Mariana (‘like banana’ she adds, after introducing herself) introduced us to the amazing rhythms of Samba Reggae. Its a form of samba closely related to African dance and it combines the typical swaying hips with low, grounded movements. Lots of moves are based on elements of nature and they tell us tales of folklore and culture.
Mariana told us about the roots of samba in both African and Indian dance which is beautifully visible in the below videos:
